Pitch to the right person
Depending on the kind of blogger you identify as, you need to pitch to a magazine or site that categorizes in your specialty. You also need to make sure you are pitching to the right person, meaning that the person you are contacting should be an editor that is covering your topics. Magazines and newspapers have various editors who cover different topics. Finding these people can be difficult without money but you can go the old fashion route and look on the internet for stories that fit your topic and look at the editors, authors, and copywriters that covered those stories.

Audience
Learn about your audience. You can do this by going to google and typing in the name of your desired magazine with the year followed with “Media kit”. For instance “Cosmopolitan 2015 Media Kit”. This will give you all the information you need to know about the audience that reads the specified magazine. You will then be able to find what editors are most likely looking for. Stating how the audience of their magazine will connect with your idea in your pitch will help you a lot. Having knowledge of what they are looking for will put you ahead of the game.

Writing Your Pitch
Short Story
Give a very short story. Editors and journalists receive many emails a day and do not have time to read a lengthy story. Try to paint a picture with a little background.

Pictures
It is important to include pictures in your pitch email, because pictures are the first things that the eyes gravitate towards. Make sure they are of high quality! Instead of including your pictures as attachments, put them in your email to where the recipient will be able to see it upon opening the email.

Make A Point
When you are pitching your idea, make your point using bullet points to help separate the text and explain your idea clear and concise. Bullet points should be your most important points and information. Readers will most likely just be scanning your email, therefore this will make it easier for them to see the most important points.

Stats
Include in your email your statistics about your project. For instance, how many views or pins your page has gotten and whether it was featured on any other media outlets or not. If you ride already has some sort of success, the editors will more likely be inclined to give you a chance.

One Idea To Begin With
Pitch one idea at a time, otherwise you will lose their attention if you have too many ideas floating around.

Include A Link
Including a link helps because if the publisher or editor likes your pitch they will want to check everything out.

Make The Subject Catchy
Like any hook to an essay, or line in a book, the subject line in your email is incredibly important. This is because it will determine whether or not your email will even be opened or not.

Stay Positive
You may not always get a “We love your idea”, but don’t give up when you don’t hear that. This is will help you so much in perfecting your pitching skills.
